Meditation
About this category
Still mind · Open heart · Balanced life
About this category
Meditation at Deoshala is a space to slow down, breathe, and come back to yourself.
Through guided practices, we work with breath, awareness, attention and stillness to create more space between you and the constant movement of everyday life. Each session is adapted to where you are that day, whether you need grounding, mental clarity, emotional release, deeper relaxation, or simply a quiet place to pause.
You do not need to be experienced in meditation. You do not need to “empty your mind”. You simply need to arrive.

SHODHANA · Panchakarma
About this category
A deeper return to balance
There are times when rest, better food, yoga and a change of routine are enough. And there are times when the body needs something deeper.
In Ayurveda, Shodhana means purification. It is a classical approach used when the body has accumulated or aggravated doshas and needs support to return towards its natural state of balance. Panchakarma is the traditional Ayurvedic system through which this deeper purification is carried out.
At Deoshala, Shodhana is never treated as a standard detox package or a list of treatments to work through. Your body is not a template, and Ayurveda does not approach it that way.
The process begins with understanding you.
Before any intensive treatment is recommended, an Ayurvedic doctor assesses your Prakriti, your individual constitution, together with your current state of balance or Vikriti, digestive strength (Agni), accumulated Ama, overall strength, lifestyle, age, environment and the season in which the treatment is being undertaken.
Only then is the appropriate approach decided.
Depending on your constitution and current needs, the programme may include traditional therapies such as Abhyanga, Swedana, Shirodhara, Nasya, Matra Basti, Shodhana Basti, Virechana or Vamana, when clinically appropriate. Not every treatment is suitable for every person, and not every Shodhana requires the same procedure.
The classical approach follows a natural sequence:
Prepare → Purify → Restore → Integrate
PURVAKARMA · PREPARATION
The body is first prepared for purification.
This may include Snehana, the traditional use of oil internally or externally, together with Abhyanga and Swedana to support circulation, warmth and the movement of doshas towards the appropriate pathways of elimination.
Food, herbs, rest and daily routine are also adjusted according to your individual requirements.
Preparation is not something that happens before the treatment. It is part of the treatment.
PRADHANKARMA · PURIFICATION
Once the body is adequately prepared, the principal Shodhana procedure is selected.
Classical Panchakarma includes therapies such as:
Vamana · Therapeutic emesis, traditionally used when indicated for specific Kapha-related conditions.
Virechana · Therapeutic purgation, traditionally used to support the elimination of aggravated Pitta and associated doshas through the gastrointestinal tract.
Basti · Medicated enema therapy, with different forms used according to the individual's constitution and therapeutic requirement. This may include Matra Basti or Shodhana Basti.
Nasya · Administration of specially selected medicines through the nasal route, traditionally used particularly for conditions involving the head, neck and upper respiratory pathways.
The principal procedure is chosen after consultation and preparation. There is no one-size-fits-all Panchakarma.
PASCHATKARMA · RESTORATION
Purification is only one part of the journey.
After the principal treatment, the body needs time to rebuild. Food is gradually reintroduced through Samsarjana Krama, moving from lighter preparations towards the individual's normal diet.
Rest, appropriate daily routines, herbal support and, when indicated, Rasayana are used to help the body transition back into everyday life.
This final stage is essential. The goal is not simply to cleanse and return immediately to the same habits that created the imbalance in the first place.
THE FIVE KOSHAS · A WHOLE-PERSON APPROACH
At Deoshala, we also look at the experience of wellbeing through the traditional yogic understanding of the Pancha Kosha, the five layers or sheaths of human experience.
Annamaya Kosha · The physical body, nourishment, digestion and the way we inhabit our body.
Pranamaya Kosha · The breath, vitality and movement of life energy.
Manomaya Kosha · The mind, senses, emotions and patterns of experience.
Vijnanamaya Kosha · Awareness, discernment and our ability to recognise what truly supports us.
Anandamaya Kosha · The deeper experience of ease, connection and inner quiet.
The Koshas are not a replacement for Ayurvedic diagnosis. They provide a complementary way of understanding why a reset can be more than a physical experience.
A well-designed Shodhana programme works with the body first, while creating space for the breath, mind and daily rhythm to settle alongside it.
WHY THE CHANGE OF SEASON MATTERS
Ayurveda recognises that the body is constantly adapting to its environment.
Changes in temperature, humidity, daylight, food, activity and daily rhythm can influence digestion, energy and the doshas. The transition between seasons, known as Ritu Sandhi, is therefore considered an important time to adjust diet and lifestyle and, when appropriate, undertake seasonal purification.
This is why our shortest Shodhana programme is specifically designed around Ritu Sandhi.
The aim is not to force the body through an intensive cleanse simply because the calendar changed. It is to work with the body's natural transition and choose the appropriate level of purification for that particular moment.
WHICH SHODHANA IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
There is no prize for choosing the longest programme.
The right duration depends on your constitution, current condition, strength, previous experience, lifestyle and what your Ayurvedic consultation indicates.
YOUR SHODHANA JOURNEY
CONSULTATION
Understand your Prakriti, current imbalance, digestion, strength and individual needs.
ASSESSMENT
Determine whether Shodhana is appropriate and which level of purification is suitable for you.
PREPARATION
Prepare the body through diet, routine, oleation, Abhyanga, Swedana and other supportive therapies.
PURIFICATION
Undertake the selected classical Shodhana procedure under appropriate supervision.
RESTORATION
Allow the body to recover through rest, gradual dietary reintroduction and supportive Ayurvedic care.
INTEGRATION
Take the principles of the programme back into everyday life with personalised diet, lifestyle, yoga, breathwork and self-care guidance.
SHODHANA IS NOT ABOUT DOING MORE.
It is about doing what is appropriate, at the appropriate time, for the appropriate person.
The deeper the programme, the more important preparation and recovery become.
At Deoshala, traditional Ayurvedic principles are brought into a modern, practical setting in Ibiza, with the treatment selected around the individual rather than the other way around.
Your Shodhana begins with understanding you.
At Deoshala, the programmes are designed as three different levels of depth, rather than three versions of the same treatment.
